Following a close 5-4 loss to the Clarington
Toros on the weekend, the Service Master Restore Atom AE Petes bounced back
with a convincing win over the Oshawa Generals on Wednesday night (Oct. 4).
The determination of the Petes was evident on this night as they applied pressure and pushed play into the Oshawa end from start to finish. Even with the constant pressure, the Gens came close to opening the scoring when point shot found its way through traffic and ricocheted off the cross bar. The Petes were able to coral the rebound and took it down ice to score on a point shot of their own from Jordan Garfat.
The Petes ended the first period scoring with less than 3 seconds on the clock when Josh Watson was able to bang home a rebound off another point shot from Garfat.
The second period saw the Petes opened their lead to 5 with goals from Riley Hagerman, Caeden Kent and Tobey Skopelianos.
The Petes opened the 3rd period with a quick goal when Skopelianos banged home his second of the night, but the Generals were able to respond less than 30 seconds later when they managed to find the net for their lone goal of the night.
The Petes rounded out their scoring with 4 minutes to go, when James Chandra tipped a waist high Garfat shot past the Oshawa netminder.
With the 7-1 win, the Petes pulled back into first place in their division and have a 5-1-1 record through the first quarter of their season.
Other assists during the game went to Kent, Chandra, Cole Scanlan, Olivia Mercer, Cole Stevens and Joe Donoghue.
The Hardest working player of the game was awarded to Jordan Garfat.
