The Service Master Restore Atom AE Petes hosted
the Clarington Toros on Sunday afternoon (Dec. 10) in a battle for first place
in the Lakeshore standings. Entering
play, the two teams were tied in the standings and had split the season series
with a win each.
The first period saw lots of action at both ends of the ice, with the Petes failing to capitalize on a few scoring chances and Brody Carrick making some key saves for the Petes to keep the game scoreless.
The Petes managed to open the scoring late in the second when Caeden Kent took advantage of a power play opportunity and beat the Toros netminder with a shot from the high slot. Jordan Garfat would provide some insurance early in the third when he hammered home a shot from the point and although the Toros managed to sneak one past Carrick, the Petes defense held strong for the 2-1 victory.
Assists during the game went to Adam Revak, Sam Dickey and Kent.
Earlier in the week the Petes were in Uxbridge for a matchup with the North Durham Warriors. The Petes managed to pull out a 5-1 win with goals from Tobey Skopelianos (2), Cole Scanlan, Riley Hagerman and Kent. Assists came from Kent (2), Revak, Hagerman and Josh Watson, while Bradley Montgomery was stellar in net throughout the game.
With the pair of wins the Petes have improved their record in league play to 18-1-4 and will be looking to keep on top of the standings when they travel to Belleville on Saturday (Dec. 16).
The Petes would like to thank our sponsor of the week – John Newman Contracting.
