Manulife Investments Bantam AA Petes Reach Finals in 2017 Silver Stick Tourney
An outstanding tournament fell one game short for the Manulife Investments Minor Bantam AA Petes on Sunday at the Cobourg Community Centre. The Petes dropped a heartbreaking 3 -1 decision to the Ottawa Rideau St. Lawrence Kings in the final of the 2017 Northumberland Silver Stick AA Regional Championship. Dawson Cook scored the game’s only goal from Carter Cannon while Petes goaltender Xavier Lehmann had a strong performance in goal in the final.(cont'd)

The Petes opened the tournament with a 4-3 win against the Northumberland Night hawks at the Jack burg Arena in Port Hope. Jack Ryan had a hat trick with assists on his goals from Nick Stinson, Thomas Golden and Matt Collyer. Dominic McMorrow added the other goal assisted by John Hawman. Ryder Hadwyn was solid between the pipes for the Petes.

In Game 2, the Petes beat the Oakville Ranger Blues in a close 4–3 game. Goal scorers were John Croxson, Thomas Golden, Michael Carter and Matt Collyer with assists to John Hawman, Dawson Cook, Sullivan and Collyer. Xavier Lehmann was sharp in net to earn the win.

In Game 3, the Petes lost to the 4-2. John Croxson and Dawson Cook were the scorers for the Petes with assists to Dominic McMorrow and Carter Cannan and Matt Collyer. Ryder Hadwyn supported the team in net

In Game 4 semi-finals, the Petes again played the Scarborough Bruins and defeated them in a close 2–1. Dominic McMorrow and Matt Collyer scored for the Petes with assists by Carter Cannon, John Croxson and John Hawman. Xavier Lehmann had a solid performance in net.

From December 1-3, more than 1442 players, 88 teams, and eleven different age divisions from Ontario participated in the 2017 Northumberland Regional Silver Stick Tournament. 

Next action for the Petes is Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 6:30pm against the Belleville Bulls at the Kinsmen Civic Centre.
