Atom AA Peterborough Petes advance to the OMHA semifinals
The FCI Windows atom AA Peterborough Petes have advanced to the semifinals of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association playdowns.
The team earned a spot in the final four with a 3-0 win over Clarington Saturday, Feb. 24.

The Petes had found themselves in trouble early in the first-to-six-point series. The team entered game one having been off for two weeks. Compounding the problem was a flu bug making a number of players ill.

In game one, the two teams battled to a 2-2 draw despite a 10-minute overtime period.

Game two also went to overtime, but this time Clarington was able to score the game winner and take the series lead.

It was just the fourth loss for the Petes this year.

Peterborough responded in dominant fashion, shutting out Clarington in the next three games as they won by scores of 6-0, 5-0 and 3-0.

With the victory, Peterborough will face the Barrie Colts in the semifinals, a rematch from last year.

Games one and two take place in Peterborough on Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4.
